One of the first things I ever learned about Haiti was from my Haitian-American students. They told me that in Haiti, and in Haitian homes in the US, it's common to eat spaghetti for breakfast. I of course found this sort of strange, but also kind of wonderful. So here I am in Haiti, teaching Spanish and learning more than I could have imagined ... and of course enjoying my share of spaghetti for breakfast.
